What is the permanent solution to baldness?
Hair transplant surgery FUT or FUE are the only permanent solutions to hair loss.
The FUE technique involves the Bosley physician extracting individual follicles that contain 1-3 hairs. These follicles are taken from the donor area and moved to areas of thinning or baldness.
The FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) procedure differs from the FUT procedure where follicles are dissected microscopically from the donor strip that has already been removed from the patient. The FUT procedure could leave a thin, fine scar that is typically concealed by the remaining hair.
Those best suited for the new FUE hair transplant procedure are:
- Patients interested in a smaller procedure, one typically up to around 1,000 grafts
- Patients where the donor supply is limited
- Patients where scalp elasticity is limited
- Patients who need or want to wear their hair short
- Patients who don’t mind having their donor hair clipped short at the time of the procedure
Hair transplantation is a relatively simple procedure that is performed on an outpatient basis at a Regional Surgical Office. Use the Bosley Office Locator to find the office nearest you.
Other hair loss treatments could be part of a complete treatment plan as decided by you and your Bosley physician. Treatments include Propecia®, Minoxidil (part of 5-step systems Bosley Professional Strength for Men and Professional Strength for Women) and the Bosley Laser Comb.
