About Bosley Permanent Hair Restoration:
Generally speaking, hair transplantation involves taking hair from where you have more than you need “donor area” and moving it to areas of thinning or baldness.
In men, donor hair is taken from the sides and back of the head where the hair and follicles are resistant to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the primary cause of male-pattern hair loss where hair is gradually lost around the temples and crown of the head. The Bosley physician will artistically place the grafts with thinner groupings toward the front and larger groupings toward the back just as hair grows in nature. The result is a perfectly natural look and restored hairline that is virtually undetectable.
Female-pattern hair loss is typically characterized by a general thinning throughout the scalp, which usually begins at menopause. Before menopause, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is counteracted by estrogen but when these levels drop it’s possible that the follicles can be affected by DHT causing hair to thin over time.
