One of the most frequently asked questions regarding Bosley surgical hair restoration is how much does the procedure cost? It is important to know that every patient’s hair transplant procedure is unique so the cost associated with the procedure will also be specifically related to the patient and his or her goals.
The Bosley surgical hair restoration procedure is relatively simple and is done on an outpatient basis, typically taking 3/4 to one full day to complete. During the procedure and generally speaking, hair is taken from where you have more than you need and moved to areas that are thinning or bald.
In men, these thinning and bald areas are typically around the temples and crown of the head while women have a general thinning throughout. The classes of hair loss are illustrated by the Norwood Scale for men and the Ludwig Scale for women as shown below.

In men, the hair on the sides and back of the head typically remains because these hair and follicles are resistant to the hormone dihdyrotestosterone (DHT), the primary cause of male-pattern hair loss.
In permanent hair restoration, these DHT resistant hair and follicles are moved to areas that are thinning or bald. When transplanted, they retain their resistance to DHT and will essentially continue to grow forever where genetically sensitive hair failed.
Generally speaking, the cost of the procedure is done on a “per-graft” basis according to your individual hair replacement needs. Only a Bosley physician can determine your candidacy for surgical hair restoration and provide you with a definitive answer on cost, which is based on:
-The hair loss you’ve experienced so far
-The amount of donor hair you have available
-The texture, color, curl, etc. of your donor hair
-The results you desire
A general range of price can be determined by your class of hair loss as shown in the Norwood Scale above.
Class II-IV=1,200 grafts
Class IV-VI=1,500-3,000 grafts
Eyebrow Restoration=50-200 grafts
