Surgical hair transplantation is the only permanent solution to hair loss.  Bosley’s permanent hair restoration is a relatively simple procedure that typically takes 3/4 to one full day to complete.  Local anesthesia is used in the area where the donor hair is taken and where the separated hair and follicles are transplanted.  Given local anesthesia is used, Bosley patients often read, watch movies, listen to music and even sleep during the procedure.

Though surgical hair restoration is the only permanent solution to hair loss there are other FDA approved solutions that could be part of your complete treatment plan as decided by you and your Bosley physician.  These treatments include Propecia® (a prescription drug for men only), Minoxidil and the new Bosley LaserComb.

Minoxidil is the most common treatment for hair loss and is included in Bosley Professional Strength for Men and Professional Strength for Women.  These 5-step systems include Nourishing Shampoo, Volumizing Conditioner, Hair Regrowth Treatment, Dietary Supplement and Follicle Energizer and are available in the Bosley Store.

The LaserComb is the only FDA approved treatment for hair loss that is drug free.  The Bosley LaserComb is a hand-held device that is applied to thinning areas for 10-15 minutes, three times per week.  This device is not ideal for advanced hair loss treatment but is a convenient method to obtain the best results from permanent hair restoration surgery.
