In men “donor hair” comes from the sides and back of the head.  The hair and follicles in these areas are resistant to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the primary cause of male-pattern hair loss.  When transplanted to thinning or bald areas, the “donor hair” retains its resistance to DHT and will essentially continue to grow forever where genetically sensitive hair failed.

This procedure is remarkably simple and done on an outpatient basis.  The procedure typically takes one-half to one full day.
