During your consultation, the Bosley Senior Counselor will answer your general questions on the causes of hair loss, hair loss treatment options and a typical range of cost for these treatments.  Only a Bosley physician can determine that you are a candidate for permanent hair restoration and provide you with a definitive answer on cost.

Hair transplant surgery is the only permanent solution to hair loss however, there are other treatment options that could be part of your complete treatment plan as decided by you and your Bosley physician.

Other treatment options include Minoxidil, Propecia® (a prescription drug for men only) and the new Bosley LaserComb.

The most recent treatment for hair loss approved or accepted by the FDA is the Bosley LaserComb, which is the only medical device and drug free solution available.

The Bosley LaserComb is not ideal for advanced hair loss but it can be implemented as part of a complete treatment plan for pre-operative and post-operative patients after a permanent hair restoration procedure. The Bosley LaserComb can also be effective for those in the earliest stages of hair loss.

The most common treatment for hair loss is Minoxidil, which is a topical solution approved in 1988 by the FDA.  Minoxidil has been proven in some cases to help stop or slow down hair loss on the vertex (crown) of the head. However, this solution has shown little effect on frontal hair loss, meaning the temples or hair line.

In 1997 the FDA approved a prescription drug for men only, for the treatment of male pattern hair loss.  Propecia® effectively helps stop hair loss by reducing the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
