Bosley Permanent Hair Restoration – Procedure Details
Bosley The World’s Most Experienced Hair Restoration Expert™

There is only one permanent solution to hair loss, hair transplant surgery.

Bosley permanent hair restoration uses state-of-the-art micro-technologies, follicular unit hair transplantation along with the skill and artistry of Bosley physicians to create a perfectly natural look and hairline that is virtually undetectable.

Before and after pictures of men and women with varying degrees of initial hair loss and their results after Bosley permanent hair restoration are available in the Bosley Patient Gallery and Bosley Multimedia Gallery.

Though hair transplant surgery is the only permanent solution to hair loss, there are other FDA approved or accepted treatments that could be part of your complete treatment plan as decided by you and your Bosley physician.  These treatments include Propecia® (a prescription drug for men only), Minoxidil and the New Bosley LaserComb.

The Bosley permanent hair restoration procedure consists of five general steps:  procedure plan, anesthesia and removal of “donor hair”, separation of follicular units, preparation of recipient sites, and placement of grafts.

The procedure plan is decided between you and your Bosley physician.  The plan confirms specific goals and plan for the permanent hair restoration procedure.

After confirmation of the procedure plan between you and the Bosley physician, local anesthetic is given at the sides and back of the head where the “donor hair” will be removed.  Afterward the donor area is sutured, which usually leaves a very thin, fine scar that is easily concealed by the hair that remains.

Next the Bosley surgical staff begins dividing the individual follicular units.  These units contain 1-4 hairs that will be skillfully and artistically placed in the recipient sites.

As the follicular units continue to be separated by the Bosley surgical team, the patient is given local anesthesia in the “donor hair” recipient area where the grafts will eventually be placed.  The recipient sites are artistically created by the Bosley physician with specific depth, angle and location.  It is this skill and artistry that creates a perfectly natural look and virtually undetectable hairline.

When the recipient sites are ready the surgical team (under the Bosley physician’s direction) will begin placement of the individual grafts with the thinner, smaller hair groupings toward the front and the thicker groupings toward the back.

Bosley permanent hair restoration is a remarkably simple outpatient procedure that typically takes 1/2 to one full day.
