In men, “donor hair” comes from the sides and back of the head.  You’ve probably noticed that most men retain the hair in these areas even when bald or thinning on the crown of the head.  This is due to the hair and follicles in these areas being resistant to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the primary cause of male-pattern hair loss.
