Bosley, which was founded by Dr. L. Lee Bosley M.D., celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2009.  Over the last 35 years Bosley has performed more hair restoration procedures than any other medical group in the world. In fact, more than 200,000 permanent hair restoration procedures have been performed worldwide.  This accounts for more than 150 million transplanted hairs, and over 11,000 annual procedures.

All Bosley physicians have at least 10 years surgical experience and have been thoroughly trained in the artistry of permanent hair restoration.

Facial structure along with current hairline, coarseness of hair, hair color and curl are all carefully taken into consideration by Bosley physicians. In addition, Bosley physicians must consider the current age of the patient and the long-term appearance when developing a treatment plan. Bosley physicians take into account future hair loss to ensure that the hair restoration looks good next year but also 20-30 years from now.

In 2002 Ken Washenik, M.D., Ph.D. was appointed the Medical Director of Bosley.  Dr. Washenik has an extensive background in clinical research and dermatopharmacology and is currently on the faculty of the New York University School of Medicine.  He also directs research at the Aderans Research Institute.  Dr. Washenik’s complete biography is available here.

Dr. Washenik has been featured in the news a number of times, often discussing Bosley’s permanent hair restoration procedure, which is available to both men and women.  This particular piece comes from CBS Morning News in New York, where Dr. Washenik discusses hair restoration for women.
